Safety

✦ What is third-party testing?

Third-party testing is a quality control process where an independent laboratory reviews a product to see if it meets certain safety standards.

✦ Do most brands test their products for safety?

Unfortunately, no. Why? It’s expensive.

Regulatory bodies like the US CPSC require each finished product to be tested by an accredited third-party lab before it can be sold. That means if a shop is selling 100+ products, they’d need to have each and every product (and its components) tested. The cost quickly adds up, and the time needed for testing (which can take weeks per product) becomes a hindrance as well.

Due to budget and time constraints, lack of regulations, etc., most companies do not have their products tested and instead rely only on their manufacturer’s word or raw material test results. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee that their products are safe. Raw material test results could be false or outdated, and a lot of changes can happen to raw materials during the manufacturing process. Labels like “BPA-Free” and “FDA Approved” are meaningless unless they are confirmed by third-party testing. Independent testing of the final product is the only way to know whether a product is truly safe.

✦ Are all Pobi products third-party tested?

YES! All Pobi products are independently tested by TÜV SÜD, a globally recognized testing laboratory headquartered in Germany.

For us, testing is non-negotiable. We’re committed to putting safety first every step of the way. We’re parents too, and we know what it’s like to worry about whether or not products are safe and whether or not we’re unknowingly exposing our child to harmful chemicals. We want to simplify things and eliminate that worry. We do the research and testing so that you don’t have to. We test for our peace of mind and yours.
